The food is delicious; however, the service has a lot to be desired. Here are a few specific details on the service: 1) The owners look miserable. They did not smile and we felt like we were inconveniencing them by coming in to eat. 2) We ordered the crispy favorite chicken. Our server (one of the owners) asked if we would like white rice or brown rice with the entree. When we received the bill, there was an additional charge for rice. 3) After we received our food, she did not come back to check on us and make sure everything was ok. I had to call her over because something was not cooked enough. At first, she argued with me about it and then had another one made. 4) They charged us an automatic service gratuity of 18% for seven of us. I understand some restaurants do this (in my experience, usually for tables of eight or more), and I don't mind this charge for a large group WHEN the service is good AND it is disclosed on the menu or somewhere else. This is not disclosed anywhere on the menu or in their restaurant.
Have been here twice so far and each time the food was amazing! Service has always been good for me. Recommend this for great Tai and not too bad prices.
Smokey Point is blessed with the best Thai restaurant around! The food is consistently amazing and the service is fantastic. The vegetables are always fresh and prepared very nicely. The owners are usually around and are lovely people. Keep up the great work!
When I talked to the owner about the service gratuity being added to the bill without any notification, he said they were doing new menus, and I suggested they include the automatic service gratuity policy on the new menus. In addition, I suggested, if an entree does not include rice, they ask if the customer would like rice first and, if so, then ask what kind. He responded positively. I also suggested they smile and be more welcoming and attentive. He told me he was having a bad day before he arrived and thought his wife was doing a great job of taking care of us. She apologized for not smiling, pointed at her throat, and said she had a cold. He also said they are 50 years old and not going to be "uppity" all the time. Their idea of customer service is interesting, and I would rather support a business that provides a welcoming, friendly atmosphere.
